Our Trails: Lake Milton & Beaver Creek State Parks
We are an IMBA chapter located in the Youngstown area. We build and maintain mountain bike trails at Lake Milton State Park and Beaver Creek State Park.
Lake Milton offers roughly 10 miles of flowing singletrack, usually ridden as a shorter or longer loop.
Beaver Creek State Park offers steeper, more technical trails in the Little Beaver Creek valley.

Lake Milton State Park
Lake Milton State Park sits in western Mahoning County near Craig Beach, just off Interstate 76, which makes it an easy drive from Youngstown, Warren, Canfield and the Akron area. The mountain bike trail here is the system RBRTC volunteers have spent the most time building, and it is one of the most popular places to ride in the region.
What to expect
- Distance: roughly 10 miles of singletrack in total, commonly ridden as a shorter loop or a longer full loop.
- Character: tight, twisty trail with many bermed turns, bench-cut hillside sections and short, punchy climbs followed by flowing descents.
- Surface: very few rocks and relatively few roots, which makes it friendly for newer riders.
- Parking: the north lot off Ellsworth Road is the usual start; the south lot off Shilling Road lets you avoid the creek crossing.
- Direction: follow any directional signs on the trail.

Beaver Creek State Park
Beaver Creek State Park follows the valley of Little Beaver Creek in Columbiana County, north of East Liverpool. The riding is steeper, more remote and more technical than at Lake Milton, with scenic views, technical climbs and fast descents.
What to expect
- Bike-legal trails: Ohio State Parks lists Dogwood/Campground, Upper Vondergreen, Pine Ridge, Fisherman's and Salamander trails as open to mountain biking. Lower Vondergreen is listed as hiking only.
- Skill level: Dogwood and Vondergreen are technical trails best suited to intermediate and advanced riders.
- Shared use: several trails are also part of the North Country Trail, so expect hikers.
- Hunting: hunting is allowed in designated areas of the park in season. Wear bright colors in fall and winter.
Trail designations can change, so check the official Beaver Creek State Park page before you ride. Our Beaver Creek mountain biking guide covers safety and planning in detail.
Other Trail Work in the Region
RBRTC has also worked alongside the Cleveland Area Mountain Bike Association (CAMBA) to help maintain trails at West Branch State Park. In 2026, the City of Girard began exploring a possible mountain bike trail at its lakes property, and RBRTC members joined city officials to help assess the land.
